Cacti and succulents have been a huge hit in many homes in the past couple of years. Their main characteristic and similarity is their ability to store water in the leaves or stems. Cacti are actually succulents however, the main difference is that cacti form spines and succulents do not.
Cacti and succulents are commonly known as desert plants but are now also grown as house plants. It is very easy to look after these plants. The compost must be free draining to prevent water logging and re-potting should be done when needed. The best position for cacti and succulents are are on a windowsill where they have access to sunlight all year round. They do not need to be watered regularly, however, from spring onwards sparingly water them making sure you allow excess water to drain and dry out completely between waterings.
By adding cacti and succulents to your outdoor garden you can create an exotic ambience. There is a wide range of cacti and succulents that can be grown outside.
