I had the wonderful pleasure of attending Zia Teresa’s 60th birthday party last week. It was a delightful culinary experience with a fine menu including Tagliatelle della Zia, Branzino alla Griglia, which was a lovely grilled fillet of Sea bass with a delicious vegetable caponata and we finished off with a soft, flavoursome slice of Panettone with chocolate sauce and mascarpone.
Zia Teresa began its delightful journey sixty years ago. Their founder, Lorenzo Fraquelli had already successfully established Italian cooking in London in the early 1950’s. In 1956 he decided to venture out and open his own restaurant in London’s Knightsbridge called Zia Teresa. The exquisite restaurant has been with the Fraquelli family since it first opened.
Upon entering, I was welcomed with a smile and instantly felt a part of this family run business. The friendly Italian culture is automatically sensed and the atmosphere is quite convivial. I had the pleasure of tasting their special anniversary menu and their main menu is equally exceptional. The fact that it’s located in Knightsbridge, just around the corner from Harrods is also ideal and it’s also close to the museums in South Kensington, which is fabulous.
Complimenting the menu is the restaurants classic interior. It’s splendidly detailed and ornately italian inspired with a touch of romance.
