How to look after sensitive skin

Let’s talk about skincare, I’m talking about facial skincare. Having great skin is really important to me and I’ve tried and tested so many different branded creams, masks and serums. Through years of trial and error from high end luxury creams to high street brands I’ve come to know what works best for my skin. I find myself at times teaching the ladies that work behind the beauty counters about products that I myself asked them about. I find it so much easier to find products that I feel will work for my skin by researching online by watching youtube videos and reading blogs, unlike back in the day when I had to trial and error every product I bought.

My skin is relatively sensitive, I do get hormonal / stress related breakouts but they seem to fade away when I drink plenty of water and relax. The worst things for your skin when it’s particularly sensitive and you’re having breakouts is dairy, spicy foods, sweets and sugar, caffeine and alcohol. Alcohol and caffeine especially, as they can cause dehydration, and you need hydrated skin for it to be healthy.

When it comes to products, there are so many great ones on the market. Most of them I’m sure you’re familiar with like Lancome and Estée Lauder. Here are a few of my favourite products that I’m currently using from a wonderful brand call Institut Esthederm.

I’ve been using face masks for so many years. I started off using the 99p ones you could buy in the chemist or in boots and now I use ones specifically for my needs. The one I absolutely adore at the moment is the Intensive Hyaluronic Mask which is amazing for dehydrated skin. It’s made up of three different types of hyaluronic acid to intensively hydrate and stimulate the natural production of hyaluronic acid, therefore hydrating and plumping your skin. The reason I really like this mask is because it works. It helps replenish my skin if it’s looking dull and it brightens my complexion after just one use. It leaves my skin feeling soft and light and looking good.

Another favourite of mine is the night time serum, E.V.E Cell Regeneration. This serum is perfect for skin that is tired and stressed. It helps the skin to regenerate itself and restore its original state. It helps clear scaring and blemishes and really revitalises my skin.

These two products are exceptionally good and will be a part of my skincare routine for a long time.
